i {heart} faces : best face in may

I knew as soon as I snapped this shot that it would be the favorite of the shoot.  I love when I catch these unprompted moments of affection.  And I love the love that obviously exists between these twin boys.

payton {senior}

To go from a newborn shoot to a Senior shoot is quite a jump.  But it makes me realize how cool my job is; I get to be there at these landmark moments.  As a mama myself, I understand how important the memories of our children's milestones are, and I'm honored by the privilege of being a part of it.  My photos will be {I hope} the ones that will be full of memory and nostalgia for years and years to come.

Seniors are so fun, and Payton was no different.  We jumped around from location to location, from football jerseys to long boards to Jeeps.  Good things are in store for Payton, and I wish him the best in all of it.  Congratulations on your graduation!

greyson {newborn}

This little boy did not want to stay asleep for me!  But he was still such a calm and cuddly baby that I forgave him.  {Plus it forced me to get a little more creative and find other ways to photograph him than what I had planned.}  Aren't his eyes beautiful!  Welcome to the world, Greyson.

{this yellow afghan was made by his great-grandma for his papa.  love it.}

As a supplement to my What to Wear series, here are some suggestions for what to wear for Senior sessions.

this is heaven to no one else but me.

Wow, I loved this session.  The light, the couple, the yellow.  When Janelle contacted me she explained about how they had eloped {totally romantic} and how she missed not having engagement photos.  So we envisioned a non-engagement engagement shoot.  Janelle picked the location--I always love it when clients take me to their favorite places because the photos are just a little bit more personal, and I get to discover the thrill of creativity from shooting someplace unfamiliar.

Pretty good way to spend an evening.  And Janelle and Tim were so fun to talk to that I kept forgetting to stop laughing and take pictures! {During the course of the conversation, I learned that this scenery is how she pictures heaven....fields and fields of tall yellow grasses}

Something amazing about Janelle....she is a potter and makes really beautiful pots.  You can check out her work at Potluck Pots.
